πŸ“ PICKLEBALL MYTH OR MUST KNOW?!
Do you need to hit a perfect Third Shot Drop?!

The reality is, NO... you don't. I think there's a common misconception that teams feel like they need to hit the most perfect third shot drop that barely skims over the net... but the thing is, when you give yourself such little margin for that shot you often end up hitting it in the net which is the worst outcome. Instead of flirting with the net to hit a PERFECT 3rd shot drop, focus on hitting a DECENT 3rd shot drop and know that you can work your way through the transition zone to the net!

πŸ€” Ben John's Tips for Aspiring Pros

Ben Johns is no doubt the best men's pickleball pro and has been for years now. He started playing pickleball in 2016 and has watched the sport grow into what it is today. That being said, he knows what it takes to get to the highest level of play and shares what he believes any aspiring pickleball pro should prioritize.

#1. Try to play with better players

This could be harder or easier depending on your where you live but this will by far sky rocket your growth as a player. What once worked as a 3.0 level no longer works at 3.5 level and so on. When you play with better players you start to find the holes in your game and that's where you can really start to improve specific skills!

#2. Find a consistent drilling partner

Pickleball is a game of finesse and touch, the more touches you get, the more feel for the ball you learn. Most pros at the top level don't play rec games and spend a lot more time drilling specific shots over playing conventional games. If you don't have better players in your area, drilling is probably your next greatest tip for improving your level of play.

#3. Play a ton of tournaments

Tournaments are an incredible opportunity to put your skills to the test in a professional environment. You don’t know how you play under pressure until you intentional put yourself in pressurized environments. Another great thing about playing tournaments is you experience a lot of different types of play styles, which is hard to do if you frequently play with the same people. The more you see different styles of play, the more well rounded of a player you’ll become.
