🤔 Looks like the pros aren't liking the new service rules or the new ball...

The PPA has implemented a couple new updates to their tour... Two of which are receiving some backlash from pickleball pros.

  1. New Serve Rule (info on the new rule here)​
  2. The New Official Ball (info on the new ball here).​

There have been a few pros recently speaking out about these new rule implementations... Zane Navertil on the Dink Podcast expressed his concern about the how though we have a new serve rule, it really hasn't changed the fact that it's still difficult for referees to enforce. They simply are just moving the problem area from the belly button to the hip. Dekel Bar spoke recently that he believes "bigger serves in pickleball mean better third shots, which means all four players make it to the kitchen more often which make for more interesting points." And Tyson McGuffin went to X to just plainly state "Serve rule needs to go".

Christian Alshon recently posted a Instagram reel where he spoke about how quickly the Vulcan Ball goes out of round. He said the officials gave him a new ball for the warm up then to find that just during the warm up the ball went out of shape to then playing the first game. Then when they were about to start their second game, they had to give him another new fresh ball because the previous had already gone out of round. Tyson also agrees the new Vulcan ball needs to go...

The Backhand Slice Drop is on of my FAVORITE third shots to hit!

Because this shot requires little wrist movement and really encourages you to use your shoulder and legs through the shot it's a very consistent drop to hit. This video teaches you the mechanics, the swing path, the body positioning and a drill to practice!
