🏓 The Most Common Serve Mistake​
The most common serve mistake I see is people will serve the ball from the correct position (both feet behind the baseline) and after they make contact with the ball, they’ll IMMEDIATELY step into the court and hang out in the back 1/4th of the court waiting for the return. Let me tell you, this is ABSOLUTELY DETRIMENTAL. The reason why is the return of serve must bounce, so if your opponent decides to hit a deep return… then it’s more than likely you’re being forced to hit your third shot on your back foot which often causes pop ups and unforced errors. So instead of stepping into the court, be sure to serve and stay back. Remember, it’s much easier to run forward than to move backwards.

Aim for the sweet spot – the middle of the court. Why? You get the most margin for error, a larger hitting area away from the sidelines, and the lowest part of the pickleball net. Plus, watch your opponents dance around the pickleball as you gain control.

🎯 Target #3: The Return of Serve Hitter

Send that third shot to the opponent in motion – the one transitioning from the baseline to the Non-Volley Zone line. Moving targets make for more errors. It's pickleball psychology at its finest.
